Jewelcrafting on a Junior Toon

10 Blood Elf Paladin, Jewelcrafting

So, I gave in and made my 3rd bank toon a Jewelcrafter. Since she’s level 10, she’ll be able to advance Jewelcrafting to 150, but no further until I commit to playing her to 20.

Prospecting turns out to be a skill learned a few levels into your Jewelcrafting training, instead of right away when you become a Jewelcrafter. Level 20? 30? Somewhere in that range. It takes a stack of 5 ore and destructs them in exchange for green+ gems which you can then use with a Jeweler’s Kit to craft necklaces and rings.

Whoa man, am I burning through copper ore and bars. Stacks and stacks of it… easily 8 stacks (160 ores), and I’ve done very very little prospecting (25 ore worth). I’m at skill level 48 right now, and can make a variety of +1 and +2 jewelry boosting agility, spirit, intelligence or strength. They’re all designed for mid-teen level toons. I don’t know if they’ll sell for anything at all over their vendor price, but seeing that the weekend is coming up, I’ll let you know how it goes.

21 Undead Priest, Questing Solo

Back in The Barrens again after a rest in Undercity doubling as a Small Silk Sack hawker. I’m now at Tailoring 206, and I was back up to 80% rested when I headed back to Crossroads at level 20. Knocking off a few easy peasy green quests first in Silverpine and then in Ratchet and Crossroads has bumped me up to 21. I’m 1/3 the way to 22 and still have 40% rest bonus to spend, so I should make it to 22 before my next rest stop.

Then again, I’m going away for 4 days as of tomorrow morning, so by the time I get back I’ll have a bunch more rest bonus to spend on all my toons. I can’t keep up with spending the rest bonus on this many toons, it’s great!

Karma points in a Party

I partied briefly with someone in Silverpine when we were both going after Rothide Ichor, and while it wasn’t a horrible experience, I did have to snicker afterwards - he (toon was he, who knows if he was a she or a he) was a level 14 Shaman, I, a level 20 Priest, and we were killing level 15 and 16 beasts (in other words, minimal healing needed, I was DPSing and casting the occasional Renew, and my DPS was contributing more to each kill). One green item dropped, we both rolled greed, and I won it. He proceeds to talk about the buddy he could have sent that to. While I did give him the level 13 +2 spirit cloak, remember that “Karma” addon I talked about using? Yah, he got dinged down five points, and I wrote brief notes to remind myself why, too.

I Love The Auction House

Between all my toons, I now have over 300g from selling “under level 40″ things in the Auction House. How many weeks ago was it that I had spent all my money getting my Blacksmith through the Armorsmithing quests? I love the AH!

But for now it’s time to deal with some RL interruptions to WoW…

Pushing warcraft professions; Always auctioning; THREE bank toons.

This past week has been pretty busy in The Real World, so my play time has been limited. My next three weekends are booked pretty solid as well (two out of town, including the Friday and Monday around the weekend as well), so I guess I’ll be gathering up a lot of rest bonus!

20 Undead Priest

Since I last wrote, I’ve levelled my Priest up 2 times and she’s now level 20.

43 Undead Warrior

Some quest grinding has brought my Warrior up to 43.

24 Troll Mage

Same here. Quest grinding, level up.

Professional endeavors

I realized once I got my Priest to 20 that my Mage also needed some professions work, especially in the Secondary professions area. Now that both toons could max out Cooking, Fishing and First Aid to 225, I wanted to take advantage of that for a while, while everyone regained rest bonus.

I used my 61 to farm cooking materials since the Auction House didn’t have any regular Clam Meat or Tangy Clam Meat, and also did some fishing in Tarren Mills with my 20 Priest to get some Sagefish to cook. Plowing through mid-20s murlocks in TM with my 61 Hunter was pretty fun, nevermind 2-shotting the teen-level crawlers and Wraithheads in Zoram Strand… but avoiding the spiders and bears near the river (lvl 22-25) while fishing with my 20 Priest wasn’t as fun.

20Priest and 24Mage are both up to using silk for First Aid now, but I have been funnelling my silk through the Priest for Small Silk Pack purposes, and never have any “left over” for first aid use. Ah well, my 61 and 43 can supply Mageweave bandages which all my toons are high enough level to use. :)

Auctioning Continuously

While I don’t have a lot of playing time right now, I’m still making sure I spend a few hours keeping the Auction House stocked with my regular sellables, so I’m still earning money while I’m not able to play. Sometimes I need to send some of my toons on “recipe buying excursions” to keep the stocks up with my Banking toon, but that’s nowhere near a daily thing.

I’m selling cooking recipes and Small Silk Packs predominantly, but on occasion I can get out and do some grinding/mining with my Warrior Blacksmith and I am able to create 5-10 smithed items to sell slowly over the week (+sta items mostly). Oh, and I’m selling Thick Leather Ammo Pouches and Quickdraw Quivers, too. The weekend is more lucrative for sure, but throughout the week I make a steady trickle of coin as well, so I never stop the cycle of listing items and picking up the cash or rejects from the mailbox whenever I log in.

THREE Bank Toons

So yah, I bit the bullet recently and turned my 10Pally into another bank toon, so now I have three. One does most of the generalized buying and selling of items from my play toons. The second holds mostly herbs and some low level first aid materials. The third holds potions and various “mined” components.

My theory with all of this is that I’ll make better use of potions that were created as part of the Alchemy Grind, and I’ll be able to quickly generate another batch of low level potions without spending more than mailing fees. Every time my miner and herbalism toons run across a node, I harvest the resource available whether or not I need it for levelling up. I figure if the stuff sits there for too long and is not useful, I can always auction it off.

I’m pondering turning my Pally into a Jewelcrafter since these mats are being sent her way anyway… but haven’t quite committed to that one.

Well, that’s enough writing about it. I don’t have much time to play, so I’d like to get back to it :)

Sold 14 packs in 24 hours!

Mmmm, Auction House money… 18 Undead Priest/Tailor

So yes, selling Small Silk Packs on the weekend has proven so far to be very lucrative, as I’ve sold 14 packs for 95s each since becoming Tailoring 150 last night when those silk cloth pieces arrived. I listed 8 last night and 4 had sold by early this morning, so I listed some more, and they’ve all sold. And, when I look at how many Small Silk Packs there are listed, there’s 3 in total, so I’ve just bundled up another 10 and listed them.

42 Undead Warrior

Grinding is a real… grind with this toon now. The quests I have on my books are yellows and are very tough to do solo because the mobs reset so damned quickly in the area. I know the Outlands spawn time was adjusted to make up for the fact that it’d be overrun with players, but my zone was outside Outlands and far from overrun (I didn’t see another player in the zone), so I’m hoping its spawn rate is “supposed” to be like that and is trying to encourage grouping up, without having directly marked the quest as “group”. Otherwise, if this is a new resetting scheme all over the place, soloing is going to be quite a bit harder than it was.

A good piece of news is that I’m right in the middle of quests that involve humanoids that drop Silk Cloth :)

I’m trying to focus my advancement time on this toon, because everywhere I go, I hear parties that need “a tank and a healer”. On my own guild line they’re constantly in need of a “meat shield”. There’s rarely a need for a Hunter in a party (there’s already one there). I think this is the same story on every realm around, and it’s the reason I started up my Warrior and Priest toons.

So, today I’m working on [42] Skullsplitter Tusks, hanging out in hte Ruins of Zul’Mamwe with a few other Alliance and Horde toons. Since we’re on a PvE server, there’s no fear of being jumped by another player, but the Skullspliter Beastmasters and their panthers are mean enough and wandering around, looking for fights to jump into. I’ve already died twice thanks to the combination of the quick respawns and them jumping into battle when I wasn’t expecting it. I remember this quest being a pain in the ass for my Hunter going through, too, but I guess like other quests, it’s here to teach you how to refine your use of the Interface - this time by staying facing one way during battle while looking around at your surroundings to make sure nothing else is approaching.

I made a quick exchange with a mage on the server who was looking for page 25 of the Green Hills of Stranglethorn book while I was beating on Skullsplitters, I have no intention of finishing that backpack-filling quest so when he asked on General if anyone had it, I offered it to him for free if he came to where I was adventuring. In the exchange I got myself some mage bread, which I’ve been happily using as part of my healing repertoire.

I collected the final Skullsplitter Tusk in perfect time. I’m going out for dinner tonight and had just enough time to turn in the quest (4 bubbles to level 43) and then log in quick to my bank toon to see how many of my Auctions have sold since last I was logged in. I’m back up to over 100g in the bank toon and each of my playing toons have 20g or more on them too.

With a whole little family of toons working hard, it’s easy to bring in cash! ;)
