Jewelcrafting on a Junior Toon
10 Blood Elf Paladin, Jewelcrafting
So, I gave in and made my 3rd bank toon a Jewelcrafter. Since she’s level 10, she’ll be able to advance Jewelcrafting to 150, but no further until I commit to playing her to 20.
Prospecting turns out to be a skill learned a few levels into your Jewelcrafting training, instead of right away when you become a Jewelcrafter. Level 20? 30? Somewhere in that range. It takes a stack of 5 ore and destructs them in exchange for green+ gems which you can then use with a Jeweler’s Kit to craft necklaces and rings.
Whoa man, am I burning through copper ore and bars. Stacks and stacks of it… easily 8 stacks (160 ores), and I’ve done very very little prospecting (25 ore worth). I’m at skill level 48 right now, and can make a variety of +1 and +2 jewelry boosting agility, spirit, intelligence or strength. They’re all designed for mid-teen level toons. I don’t know if they’ll sell for anything at all over their vendor price, but seeing that the weekend is coming up, I’ll let you know how it goes.
21 Undead Priest, Questing Solo
Back in The Barrens again after a rest in Undercity doubling as a Small Silk Sack hawker. I’m now at Tailoring 206, and I was back up to 80% rested when I headed back to Crossroads at level 20. Knocking off a few easy peasy green quests first in Silverpine and then in Ratchet and Crossroads has bumped me up to 21. I’m 1/3 the way to 22 and still have 40% rest bonus to spend, so I should make it to 22 before my next rest stop.
Then again, I’m going away for 4 days as of tomorrow morning, so by the time I get back I’ll have a bunch more rest bonus to spend on all my toons. I can’t keep up with spending the rest bonus on this many toons, it’s great!
Karma points in a Party
I partied briefly with someone in Silverpine when we were both going after Rothide Ichor, and while it wasn’t a horrible experience, I did have to snicker afterwards - he (toon was he, who knows if he was a she or a he) was a level 14 Shaman, I, a level 20 Priest, and we were killing level 15 and 16 beasts (in other words, minimal healing needed, I was DPSing and casting the occasional Renew, and my DPS was contributing more to each kill). One green item dropped, we both rolled greed, and I won it. He proceeds to talk about the buddy he could have sent that to. While I did give him the level 13 +2 spirit cloak, remember that “Karma” addon I talked about using? Yah, he got dinged down five points, and I wrote brief notes to remind myself why, too.
I Love The Auction House
Between all my toons, I now have over 300g from selling “under level 40″ things in the Auction House. How many weeks ago was it that I had spent all my money getting my Blacksmith through the Armorsmithing quests? I love the AH!
But for now it’s time to deal with some RL interruptions to WoW…

I haven’t dipped into Jewelcrafting, but I have a friend (level 28 BE hunter now) that is, so I sent him all the spare ore/gems I had on all of my toons which netted him about 40ish skill-ups… figured that was worth more than the 15-20g I could have gotten for it.
Playing 60+ in Burning crusade nets a LOT of money, although the gear is worth more so repairs are costly… I have been experimenting with new Holy/Disc builds with my 62 priest and I think I have one that is working for me. 23 Discipline, 28 Holy, and 2 Shadow. All decked out and potioned I can get my holy crits up to 16%, regular spells about 11%. Now when I crit ANY SPELL (even heals) I get a 50% chance to cast an instant and FREE smite! Although you only have 10 seconds to click it or it goes away. Right now I have about +300dmg to spells and smite hits for about 700 regularly and 1000-1100 on crits. It gets kind of repetitive in fights - smite, smite, smite, smite, smite, smite, Shadow Word:Death, which (for those that don’t know) is an instant ‘finishing’ move that does about 600dmg (for me) and can crit, however if the spell DOESNT kill who you cast it on, it does the EXACT same damage to YOU! Most fights I still have some shield left over so if it doesn’t kill them most of the spell is absorbed and 1-2 wand shots finishes them. What this means in groups is that if you have the Spirit Tap talent you can try to get the killing blow and up your spirit by 100% for 12 seconds, reducing your downtime in between pulls! Let me tell you that 600 spirit, even for 12 seconds is a LOT of mana regen! :)
I did Shadow spec until 60, and I didn’t like going into groups like that because I couldn’t heal well, this way at least the talents I have can be used to heal as well as damage, not to mention I get the odd smite in there for FREE.
One of the other talents I couldn’t live without is a Discipline one: Inner Focus. Click it (3min cooldown) and you get your next cast spell for FREE and increases the crit chance by 25%!! In groups I usually use it for the group heal and chances are I get on average 2-3 crits and I’ll get a free Smite out of it! :D
I mainly picked this build so that I wouldn’t have to respec all the time, I can group, solo, PVP and still be effective in all 3! Fun Fun Fun… Not sure how that would translate in to a level 20-30 build… I found those levels to be pretty difficult, and tried to duo/group as much as possible (which helps in the training to be a good priest in later levels too) and found that I lost some of that experience going solely Shadow spec in the later levels. Shadow has some neat ways to heal (Vampiric embrace) which is VERY nice for trash mobs/etc, but once you get to a big boss you need to shadow-down and heal, heal, heal.
Anyways, thought you’d like to hear about my experiences with a priest! :)
