Tuning the Toons to One Toon’s Benefit
There are two main reasons I have 4-5 active, levelling toons:
- I crave variety
- I want to cover all the professions that intermingle
It’s very cool to have one toon that can create potions for all the other toons to use for various things, including the creation of weapons and armor.
It’s cool to have a leatherworker that can feed raw armors to Blacksmiths who can turn them into mail.
And of course, it’s cool to have a 60 that can farm mats for a lower level toon.
41 Undead Warrior
She’s a Blacksmith who is just shy of level 240, and who is halfway through her Armorcrafting quests. I’ve been using my bank toon to buy up (reasonably priced) stacks of Mithril Ores and Bars over the past few days, and using my 60 Hunter to farm Mageweave in Jintha’alor, and the BS has been sitting in Gadgetzan working on the Armorsmithing quests. Soon it will be complete, and that toon will go back to the grind of levelling, and probably start taking in a few instances more regularly.
61 Troll Hunter
I’ve done a lot of disenchanting, and a little bit of work with Knothide leather with my 300 LW/300 Ench. I’ve got the mats together for making an Arcanite Rod (BS 270 I think), but now have to find a Blacksmith who can put them together for me. I’ve got the mats for Runing the rod afterwards and can do that myself.
In the mean time, this toon has been exerting her power over lesser NPCs for the purpose of farming materials for my Warrior Blacksmith, and right now is heading to Felwood to prey on Entropic Beasts which are said to have a 12.7% drop rate of Heart of Fire… an ingredient needed to create an Ornate Mithril Breastplate, which is needed for one of the Armorsmithing quests.
10 Blood Elf Paladin
I’ve got some cool equipment coming up in this toon’s life. First, I’m going to funnel the equipment past my 300 Enchanter and get everything enchanted that can be enchanted, then I’ll send it on to my Pally.
All the Seals and stuff confuse me (I think I have three already) but one can always zerg their way through, with good enough equipment and enchants ;) When I care enough (and before I start getting into instances), I’ll do some research on Pally strategies and become less confused.
The rest of the toons got the night off with Real Life activities taking priority this evening. Ahh, but they rest in peaceful bliss, gathering rest bonus, which I will gleefully exploit another time.
Night all!

Best source for mageweave that I know of: the pirates of Tanaris… They also have a fair bit of money and there are a few random chests in the area that you can open (and a few other that are locked). I was able to take a FULL runecloth bag of mageweave cloth out of there and about 30g of other ’stuff’ one evening. And that was when they were green to me, so I was still able to capitalize on some nice rest XP bonus.
As for farming Heart of Fire… having 2 toons in the 60+ range I still only ever got 3-4 of those without actually ‘farming’ them… I did however farm the Essences of (water?) the ones you need for the mana/5 enchant on bracers… spent 2-3 days there just so I didn’t have to spend 10g EACH on the AH. Best non-dungeon place for them are the Toxic Horrors in Felwood (north of the Entropic beasts) along that lake with all the big statues… needless to say there was rarely a time I was alone killing those elementals! Best time to farm - late at night or early in the day, obviously.
Rest XP is the best possible thing Blizzard has done for the casual player.
